It's a pretty good time. I played one season 5 years ago now, when I was in college (But not for a college team, for a men's amateur team like I play with now). Then last fall decided to get back into it, and played the fall season with my new team, Charles River RFC. Had December and January off, now we start training for the spring tournament season.

too physical for me, i prefer a good efete game of skill like throwing frisbees or rolling balls without direct resistance :)
although capoeira does get quite full-contact, i think it's generally safer than rugby if you stay out of brazil and certain circles.

True story though, at a match last season I had a contact kicked out of my eye. Guy slipped getting up from a tackle and basically donkey-kicked me in the face, but I saw and pulled my head back fast enough to avoid any real contact with his foot, except for one spike, which grazed my eyeball and pulled the contact out with it. I stood there in shock for about 10 seconds, but was perfectly fine and just kept playing with 1 contact. That's my scary rugby near-miss story.
