Block Island is lovely.

Acadia might be a bit much. But Norman Rockwell's stomping grounds in the Berkshires might work.

Rhinebeck is closer, and on the Hudson.

Rockport, MA, just past Gloucester, is beautiful and lots of B&Bs will let yousit on their beach and bother crabs all day.
