So many moments from all these shows. They all come back to me randomly.
This was the one night there were some really obnoxious girls behind me. They were rockin out to all the hits but seemed clueless when songs like Holden and Pasalacqua were played. During She they were fucking screaming it. I recently found a new love for this song so I was really into it, all excited and singing (obviously). At one point Mike is just looking right at me smiling and singing with me, and I hear the girls behind me get all excited because they think he's looking at them. But when somebody is looking you straight in the eye for quite a steady amount of time, you know- and I knew that it was me he was looking at, not them. I know that sounds really bitchy, but that kind of made ME more excited. This is exactly the reason that I just didnt have the heart to leave Mike's side for Billie and the catwalk. He knows we drove all the way from Hartford, to Albany, and then came back down to the city two nights in a row just to see them because every night we kept coming back, right in front of him, and I honestly think that he was happy to see us each time. By Albany he knew that we are real loyal fans. And by MSG2 when we were all together- me, Kayla, Ashley, and Melissa he definitely got that we all did it together. The feeling of knowing that one of my heroes knows how much he means to me and knows what I do for them seriously means so much to me. Yeah, it would have been great to see Billie some more those nights, but I'm really glad that every night we went back to Mike cause despite the fact that there were 15,000-20,000 people behind us, in a sense we actually got to know each other. I especially loved how one night we could make a motion or say something in reference to the night before and he'd know exactly what we were talking about.
Another moment I remember is 21 Guns. I obviously knew all the pyro cues, and one of my all time favorites is the "Waterfall" in 21 Guns. Although I did it every time, I just remember looking up at it that night and standing there smiling and just admiring it. Also being one of my favorite songs, it just brings me into one of those speechless in awe moments where I'm just thinking about how fuckin amazing this band is and how EPIC they are live. And not just their music, but the way they present themselves, make their shows fun, get personal with the crowd even in such huge venues, actually care about the fans, and of course have fucking BEAUTIFUL BACKDROPS AND LIGHTING. Yeah, I'll admit being a visual artist thats a huge factor for me that makes me love their live show even more. ANYWAY, after getting out of that little daze staring up at the sparks falling from the ceiling I saw Mike looking and kind of chuckling at my fixation on the sparks. And I kind of love that he saw that I'm into more than just screaming I LOVE YOUUUU like some people. I dont know, maybe I'm just overanalyzing, but there were so many moments especially with him that are still so vivid in my mind which I love to relive. Oh, and at every show I was the one to initiate the "1, 2, 3, 4!" scream along with Tre after "You're in ruins" ... and the "1, 21, guns" hand motion ;)
Oh, and even though I wasn't there, Ashley and Melissa got into soundcheck. Melissa's second, Ashley's first. I was sitting with them when the lady came around giving them out but she said to me that they got in trouble for letting me in again the day before. In all honesty, I was grateful to have gone twice (obviously MSG1 more since they played Redundant<3), and wasnt even planning on trying. So one of Melissa's favorite song is Scattered and she wanted to hear that so we made a sign for it...
Melissa tells me that Billie came over to look at it and just stared at it and made a face and was all LOL DOES THAT SAY BITCH? ...and then proceeded to play the whole song. I'm really happy for her even though I wasnt there. I mean I heard Scattered at Bowery, so I'm all good. Now two of us made Green Day play our favorite songs for us<3
As amazing as this show was, there was something different about it because FUSE was filming it. The first half of the setlist was legit set out and they couldnt change it. Kayla held up a sign for At The Library and Billie CLEARLY looked straight at it but ignored it. After each of the first few songs I'd see him look to the side where techs were holding up a white piece of paper saying which song was to be played next. At one point, going back to switch guitars before American Idiot I also noticed he looked a bit pissed off. Yet the show went on for about three hours- they played a lot of good, old songs including Holden, Pasalacqua (which was obviously planned because there was pyro in it), FOD, and a cover of The Who's A Quick One. Not a big fan of covers but it was something interesting to see.
The entire time Melissa held up this sign saying "A Drumstick Would make my life" (LINE STEALER!). It was getting really fuckin obnoxious and after like two songs Tre motioned to her and we knew he'd give her one... AT THE END OF THE SHOW, but she kept holding it up the whole time. Melissa, if you read this, NEXT TIME I'M GONNA HOLD UP MY SIGN IN YOUR FACE ;) But before he went offstage he ended up coming over to us and throwing her a stick. I knew it would happen, and I think that was an amazing moment for her.
Now one of my top moments of that night was during one of the last songs while Billie is playing acoustic alone on the catwalk. The lights are all out except for a spotlight on him, but we see Mike on the side of the stage in the corner watching. Ashley, Melissa and I started blowing kisses to him and he pretended to catch them. I mouthed thank you over and over again and I'm pretty sure he saw. Then he pointed to all of us and gave Emmanuel a bunch of picks to hand out to us. They weren't used, but the fact that Mike Dirnt specifically asked him to give them to us makes it special. That one I put in a framed 8x11 picture I took of him in Hartford. I have a feeling that he knew this was our last show, and I bet he totally missed us being in front of him after that ;) I'm not gonna lie, I think after everything that happened with him I might just have a little bit more love for him and I know that on the next tour he will remember all of us<3
Before the show...

Verizon guy: Come on, only you will see it
Me: FINE.
