A couple of weeks ago someone posted on the Australian Screen Editors page on Facebook. They were looking for a video editor to work as a part of their crew, who were competing in the 48 Hour Film Project. As the name implies, the 48HFP gives you 48 hours to script, shoot, edit, score, mix and master a short film of between 3 and 7 minutes. It was ( Read more... )

That sounds like a really interesting concept. I think I'm free on the 24th so will likely come check out the screening :)

Nice! Amanda has a ticket and will be coming along as well. As long as everyone is happy to massively lower their expectations before they walk in, it should be enjoyable! ;) ;)

Heh... sounds bit like livewire to me. Cool idea for a project though. Do you think tickets will be available on the day for the screening? I might come along...

I find it difficult to believe that a Wednesday evening screening of a bunch of films made in 48 hours could sell out an ACMI cinema, but stranger things have happened! I'm pretty sure there will still be tickets available on the evening.

I had been intending to read this post since you first shared your 48HFP completion on facebook, and just prior to the screening of this evening's films I was kicking myself for not doing so sooner! But! Now that I've watched the film on the big screen, and been able to compare the outcome with the other films shown, I've found this post very insightful, and being able to imagine actors, sets and props has made it more relevant. Points to me for failing to strike while the iron's hot! (again!) And MAJOR points to you and your crew for producing a polished looking film in such a short amount of time. Well done, especially considering this was your first effort - I would have picked the makers of the film to be seasoned participants in the 48HFP ( ... )

You are most welcome!

I really appreciate you sharing that Welles quote - it's so incredibly true! I have so many artistic thoughts that I need to turn into artistic actions, but without any pressure to do so, they'll go on to simply live their lives as unseen and unheard concepts. I've not worked on artistic projects with others much, I feel I need to establish myself more as an artist before I do that, and I can relate to your trust concerns on that front.

What were the other films like the following nights?
Any stand outs?
