I was running late yesterday after work/before practice and only got through 5 sets of my circuit. But then I had a great practice, I fought Vlad, Kenji and Melchior. All three fights left me sweaty. Also my attempts at merging my short sword style with my long sword(35in vs 40in) are going well but are taxing my forearm a ton. I will have to start ( Read more... )

I would really, really advise against trying to retain the same style of a two-tempi weapon with a one-tempo weapon. The length isn't the issue so much as the weight and balance point. I'm sure you CAN train that muscle group up, but I can think of at least a few people who are what I would call "big and strong" who employ what is essentially smallsword technique with a practice rapier and it is destroying their arms at the joints, bit by bit. I'd hate to see that happen to you.

It's more of a mental merging of the two styles so that I don't have an adjust time period when I switch between swords. Nothing drastic enough to worry about.

It was about certain people bringing certain emotional issues on to the field where there should be only fighting.
