poetic...

I just returned from Kristina's memorial service. So much beautiful poetry was read that I felt inspired. Here is my poem that I just wrote and finished, dedicated to Kristina, and all the people whom I love.

In Memoriam... (for Kristina)

Holding on to friends with both arms,
sit back in the pew and wait for the memorial to begin.
Music wafts through the chapel as does the breeze,
lightly lifting the dampened spirits about to be drowned.
Poetry read, testimonies said,
tears shed all around.
She is dead, they tell us, but we knew that already.

Unable to tear eyes away
from the gruesome sight displayed
whilst friends and loved ones
lay their hearts bare.

Many words were said, but could not be heard
above the silent roar of pain echoing
throughout our heads.
The dull thud of headache begins
From tears tracking down quivering cheeks.
Nothing can stop the pain of these days
little more than time can amend.

So let us bottle these emotions in little jars
and keep them safe forever more.
For no man is anything without his friends,
today we saw firsthand.
