I had no idea that there was ANOTHER reason to hate Dane Cook. Yes, he definitely stole those jokes. They are far too similar for it to be a coincidence and I can't believe that he had never heard Louis' set before he wrote his own. Louis is way too influencial in comedy for Dane to plead ignorance (if he even is). I'm sure he thought he could get away with it because the majority of his fans are anti-intellectual, sheltered college kids. It the same reason that Dennis Leary probably thought he could get away with stealing Hicks' jokes. Different audience so less liklihood of getting caught. What baffles me is how many people on the blog you linked to said that it was ok because Dane Cook's delivery was better. A) How does that make it ok? and B) No it WASN'T! It was sloppy and weak and it's pretty unprofessional to laugh at your own jokes as you deliver them, even if you didn't write them.

Everyone steals from everyone. It's a sad fact. More and more though I am disliking the Cook. It started with Waiting... and then I watched some of Tourgasm... and I can officially say it's over between him and I. We are through. Though to say that Louis CK is "influencial" is going a little too far. He's a good enough sitcom writer. (Though his sitcom stinks on ice) But I can't say that I had ever heard of him before Jim Norton, another relatively unknown comedian, was talking about him. Say whatever you want about what a douche-rag Dane Cook is, I will agree with you, but to call him less "influencial" then Louis is a mistake. Sure his fans are more apt to use roofies then read a book, but they are legion and I don't see Louis CK having 1 billion myspace friends. If we want to talk about joke theives then let's move on to Carlos Mencia. He is such a well known joke stealing dick-wad, that most comedians refuse to do their best stuff if they know he is in the room.

If I was a comedian in a room with Carlos Mencia I would hire a bunch of my friends to sit around the room, laugh at a bunch of terrible jokes I wrote just for the ocassion, turn on Comedy Central, sit back and enjoy the cancellation process.

I never said he was less influential. And I never called Louis CK influential. I just found it odd that I never got Dane Cook, but have always liked Louis CK. Since I never watch or listen to Dane Cook I had no idea his material was lifted from Louis. I realize this happens all the time in the comedy world but I found it odd that Dane would steal from Louis - they seem like polar opposites on the comedy scale.

But Louis did Pootie Tang, and NOTHING Dane Cook has done can compare. Not even having 1 Billion MySpace flunkies. :)

As for Carlos Mencia - I never liked him either. Dave Attel likes him. Is Dave Attel a joke stealer? Hmmm... my comedy world has been turned upside DOWN.
