You know, it had always been my understanding that commercial charcoal was not safe to use inside even with venting, but I have seen people doing it on Food Network lately. I guess maybe if there is no lighter fluid involved?...
I think that's to prevent people from venting insufficiently and monoxiding themselves.
That said, just having the flue open wasn't good enough. I had to do a bit of trial-and-error experimentation to discover which windows to open and how wide, to get a smooth airflow going through the apartment and up the chimney.
J has wedding stuff (a bachelorette thing and a wedding) the first two weekends of August. After that I think we're free 'till Burning Man. I'd love to see the new place!
