History:
herePersonality:
In a lot of ways, Shino is how a ninja-or atleast a stereotypical one-should be as far as their personality. He’s dark, mysterious, and never speaks unless he feels it’s absolutely necessary. He never smiles or laughs either. Matter of fact, the only emotions he really allows himself to show is calm, irritated, or distressed. Nothing else ever see’s the light of day whether he actually feels it or not. This isn’t exactly Shino’s fault though. It’s just a personality trait of the Aburame clan. Possibly because unlike most clans, their entire strategy relies solely on them being able to out maneuver and outsmart the opponent. They’re not straight up fisticuffs fighters. And so they show very limited emotion and conceal most of their face as to not give their opponent any sort of way to predict their next move.
It may or may not be another personality trait of his clan, but Shino tends to take everything seriously. This is fine for the battlefield, but not necessarily for day by day conversations or social interaction. Which is the reason why he takes Naruto so seriously when he doesn’t recognize him right away, but remembers everyone else on his team at the get-go. Instead of just coming to the conclusion that Naruto is a derp and that he can be a bit slow sometimes (A conclusion which most people probably would expect a logical person like Shino to come to), he took it to heart personally as if Naruto had barely bothered to remember him at all.
Shino has been shown to be quite strategic, as one would expect from the Aburame Clan.. Not exactly on par with the level Shikamaru is on, but it is enough to help him outsmart several of his more brute force opponent. In his first fight in the Chuunin exam he manages to easily outsmart and defeat Zaku, And what’s more impressive is that he only hit him one time during the whole fight.
During battle, Shino doesn’t seem to have much compassion or sympathy for his opponents (as it should be), but he doesn’t mind giving a warning of foreshadowing to them if he is confident in the fact that he can win. Before he faces Zaku, he tells him that if he chooses to fight, he won’t be able to recover and to just forfeit, showing that he foresaw not only him losing terribly, but also getting severely damaged at some point. He’s even courteous enough to give him one final warning not too long before he loses the fight for real.
The Aburame clan doesn’t believe you should ever underestimate your opponent no matter how big or small they are. If Shino is in a fight, he will go all out regardless of how small or what condition his enemy is currently in. Although he warns Zaku, that he’ll lose, he never gives a sense that he’s underestimating him. He even goes as far as to give himself a trump card in order to ensure his victory which actually came in handy because it turned out Zaku COULD use both his arms despite the fact that it seemed as if he couldn’t.
As you’d expect from his personality, Shino can be quite sneaky and inconspicuous when he wants to be. He managed to place a female kikaichū on Sasuke without him even noticing it was there until he pointed it out.
He has a habit of holding grudges, even if it’s for things that are minor and not necessarily worth getting worked up over. Although it is not truly seen until after the time skip when Naruto fails to recognize him, there appears to be at least a hint of this behavior pre-timeskip during the Chuunin exams. After the shit hits the fan, he places a bug on Sasuke and tracks him down all the way to the point where he’s challenged to fight by Kankuro. He then tells Sasuke to just go ahead because Kankuro was originally his opponent before he decided to be a bitch and forfeit. He went out of his way and through all that trouble just to fight Kankuro because he decided to give up before the match began.
Shino is confident, but never really cocky. He believes that he can win the battles he’s in because he actually has the capabilities of winning them. Not because he believes his opponent is beneath him and that he’s so incredibly powerful that no one can compare. Part of the reason he probably believes he can win is BECAUSE of the fact that he doesn’t under-estimate his opponents. In both his main battles, his foe gets just a tad over confident in their capabilities, but not Shino. He’s always constantly planning and strategizing to catch his opponent off guard.
Strengths:
Physical
Shino is not a physical combatant. His thing is outsmarting his opponents and somehow getting his bugs to screw them over at some point in the fight. However, that does not mean he is a completely useless person physically. Like most ninjas, he has the amazing ability to be able to travel long distances via jumping from tree to tree. Meaning he not only has increased speed naturally, but he also has enhanced stamina.
In addition, he has shown to be able to easily block incoming melee attacks as when Zaku tried to punch him and he was able to block it without any effort, possibly meaning he is at the very least an above average fighter. Probably not by ninja standards, but by normal human standards.
Kikaichū: These are the beetle-like insects that reside in Shino’s body by the thousands. They are also his main weapons, because they can be used for offense as well as defense. They’re able to block incoming attacks, and consume the opponent’s chakra, which eventually paralyzes them or causing them to lose consciousness.
They’re also capable of making a complete clone of the host, which is in some ways, better than shadow clones because they can be placed in places before hand if the user chooses.
The females of the species give an odorless scent that is impossible for anyone but the males of the species to smell. This makes them the perfect tracking devices to put on anyone the user chooses to track because the person said bug is on won’t be able to detect it, even by smell.
Because of the bugs short life span, the user of them doesn't have to worry about preserving any of their lives. They possibly die by the dozens or hundreds during most battle, but that is but a small amount compared to how much is stored within the owner’s body regardless. In the anime they are immune to genjutsu thanks to their simple nervous systems.
Mental
As previously mentioned, the Aburame clan’s whole schtick is to outsmart the opponent and place bugs on them, so it is only natural that Shino would have atleast above average intelligence and a few strategic “trump cards” up his sleeves. Out of the Konoha 11, he has the second highest intelligence next to Shikamaru’s and in all three canon battles he’s been in, he’s shown using it to his complete advantage.
This was especially shown in his fight with Kankuro. He threw a punch at him which was actually a distraction so he could place a female Kikaichū on his headband which told the male Kikaichu of his exact location. This actually saved his ass later on in the fight when Kankuro had him on the ropes and was about to have his puppet stab him in the face with poison. Had it not been for his quick thinking before in placing the bug on his headband, he probably would’ve been hit (Though it could have possibly been his foresight that the attack would miss BECAUSE of the bug he had planted).
Because of his calm demeanor, it makes it much easier for him to think during battle. Unlike Shikamaru, he does not necessarily take the time to consider every single possible outcome during the fight. Instead, he thinks more on-his-feet. Usually, by figuring out the opponents weak point, thinking of a way to counter it, and then using that as his last "trump card" at the end of the fight.
Emotional
Shino… doesn’t particularly like to display many emotions. He prefers to remain calm, quiet, and reserved at all times. This means it can possibly be hard for an opponent, or well, anyone to read his mind or tell exactly what he’s thinking at any given moment. He even wears goggles and a hood to further add to the mysteriousness of himself.
He seems to have a very stern loyalty to those he consider to be his friends. When the gang went after Sasuke in order to bring him back, he was disappointed he wasn't there to lend them a hand. He believes that if he was there, the outcome might have been a little different. It's a disappointment in himself that he still keeps with him today. It's apparent when the group runs into "Tobi" when trying to track down Sasuke. He says he'll be the one to fight him to make up for not being there on the last Sasuke mission.
Weaknesses:
Physical
He’s not a straight up kind of fighter. And his physical limitations speak as such. He’s not as strong or as fast as say Naruto or Rock Lee as far as fist to fist goes. He just didn’t train himself for that. So while his intelligence is one of the highest of the Konoha 11, his taijutsu is one of the lowest.
Mental
There’s not much mentally handicapping about Shino. Oh, except for the fact that he’s completely one-hundred percent cool with thousand upon thousands of bugs crawling through his body at all times. As you can guess, this coupled with the fact that he loves to keep his emotions in check and remain dark and mysterious tends to make him very socially awkward, and may even come off to some as creepy. As such, he’s not exactly a person you’d probably want to interact with or talk to on a daily basis.
As stated before, Shino is a more "on-his-feet" sort of thinker. He takes time to analyze things, but he doesn't consider every single possibility there is, which has proven to allow him to be tricked or fooled in some cases. An example of this would be in his fight with Kankuro. Kankuro had his puppet fire a ball of poisonous gas at Shino, and instead of him dodging it he chose to block. Of course, he didn't know it would be poison, but because of that slip up the match ending up being a draw.
Emotional
Shino seems to have a tendency for holding grudges against people, even if the thing he’s holding a grudge for is not that much of a big deal or perhaps even childish. When he first meets Naruto after the timeskip, he is disappointed in the fact that he doesn’t recognize him right away, but does recognize Hinata and Kiba. A grudge which he still… keeps with him till this very day.
When it comes to his friends, even Shino seems to display a bit of "blind faith" in their abilities. During Hinata's match against Neji, he seems to be constantly rooting for her(thinking things like "Did she get him?"), even though it should have been obvious that she had no chance in winning the fight.

First Person:
Q&A please.
Third Person:
Like most people, Shino arrived on the ground of the forest. He wasn’t in a very deep sleep though. He never allows himself to sleep too deeply. You never know when an assassin might come out for your head or when the village might be attacked during the night. Shino makes sure to always stay on his toes. That’s why when he felt the sun hit his face, he jolted awake taking quick note that he didn’t have his goggles on nor his clothes. He had no idea how, but someone had managed to sneak up on him during his sleep. Not only that, but they had stripped him of his clothes, weapons, and pretty much everything else, leaving him in nothing but white fluffy pants.
He scanned the area carefully for any surrounding enemies and everything looked clear at least. Why would someone just snatch him away from Konoha and throw him into the forest with barely any clothes? Better yet, how did they do all of this without waking him? Maybe they used some sort of sleeping gas... Hmm, if they wanted to kill him they could have done so already. So what are they planning? A secret take-over of the village? Likely. First thing’s first though. He has to find out where he is. And he’s not having much luck because the forest doesn’t look familiar to him at all.
His eyes narrow in frustration as he thinks up a plan. He’ll have to search the general area if he wants to figure out where he is in order to get back to the village as soon as possible. However, the problem with this is that… he doesn't have any clothes except for these white pants. Not that he was embarrassed or anything, of course not but it left him more vulnerable than he liked. Sure he didn’t use kunai, really, but it was never a bad thing to have some on hand just in case. And without his goggles, his potential opponents could see his eyes. It seems like a minor inconvenience, but these weren’t for just protecting his eyes from the sun. He needs these so his foes can’t see where his eyes are moving or looking to. Hiding his eyes like that grants him more of an advantage when using his bugs for sneak attacks, as any person he's facing can't see where he plans to place them.
But he gets an idea though. As kikaichū emerge from his body, he has them form into an exact replica of himself, no clothes included - or excluded. Except those white pants. He frowns at how ridiculous the clone looks because it’s an exact reflect of how HE looks right now. Regardless, he has the clone jump into the trees and start to jump from one tree to another. It’s just a decoy though. He follows behind it in the shadows of the trees and in the bushes. Damn, no matter how much of the area he searches he still can’t put a finger on where he is.
