She'd had a glass of wine and then another, trying to decide what she was going to say. She knew she needed to say the things she wanted to say in person, and that was actually why she was going to call him. But there were other things she wondered if she should say. The fact that she had asked Nathan to go with her for starters. She hated the way ( Read more... )

To say that Methos was surprised by seeing Cassandra’s number come up on his caller I.D. on his cell phone, would be an understatement. After they left each other the last time, he didn’t think that they would see or even talk to each other for a long, long time. It’s true that it had been three or four months and that to an average mortal that would be considered a long time. To Methos, however, that was nothing. So the fact that she called so soon after the last night that they were together, was shocking.

His not sure if it is actually Cassandra on the other end of the line and so he answers with his usual, “Pierson, here.”

Even though he used the name she had never known him by, she knew his voice. There was the initial sense of panic in her head as soon as she'd heard his voice, but it was easily quelled.

"Methos," She knew all he'd need to hear was her voice to know exactly who was on the phone. She wasn't sure how that was; that they could go literal millenia without heard each others' voice and still know instinctively who it was; but she certainly didn't want to think too much on it, either.

"How have you been?" The question felt and sounded so awkward that she pinched the bridge of her nose, her eyes closed.

He wasn’t sure why he felt this sense of excitement when he heard her voice. Perhaps it was because it was actually her and not someone else telling him that someone had killed her...

He frowned, however, when she asked him how he was. That was something that never really happened before. Then again, talking to each other and not wanting to kill/maim/or break each other was very new to them anyway. However, it was odd for her to ask that and instinctively he asked, “What’s wrong?”

She let out a small sigh, shaking her head and reaching for her wine, "Does something have to be wrong for me to ask how you're doing?" She paused and then added, "Don't answer that. I'm... doing well, actually. Despite hiding from Roland. And honestly, I was worried he would come after you," And she had been worried, though she really hadn't meant to tell him so. This whole scenario was so... awkward. It was the only word she could think of to describe it.

"You didn't answer my question,"
