Her eyes closed. "Come in," Her voice very much reflected his, quiet and very uncertain. She wanted to hold him, or kiss him, or scream at him. Something. ANYTHING. But all she did was stand there, uncertain and scared that maybe she had realized there was a problem just a moment too late.

He finally looked down again without saying anything. He was terrified of what would come out of his mouth... that he would try to push her away before she could push him away. He already felt far too distant.

"I can't bear to lose you," The words were soft, pleading. Hadn't that been what she'd been trying to avoid all this time? Losing him? Hurting him like he was so obviously hurting right now? Isn't that why she agreed to hide from Roland? For him?
She couldn't look at up him again and see that wall. It would break her and it wasn't something that she was certain she could recover from.
