Name: Hakurei Reimu
Series: Touhou Project
Age: Unknown; she looks to be around 12~13-ish
Canon: Somewhere in an Eastern country, there is a land known as Gensokyo, where magic and spirits are commonplace and humans and youkai manage to co-exist without killing each other off. Keeping Gensokyo sealed off from the rest of the world is the Hakurei Boundary, managed by the shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, a dividing line managed by the shrine maiden of Hakurei shrine. Her job description also includes exterminating youkai and maintaining the peace and stability of Gensokyo, mainly for income, since the shrine gets no donations.
Hakurei Reimu is the current shrine maiden of the shrine, although you never actually see her do anything remotely shrine maiden-like. She's easy-going, somewhat miserly, honest, and generally treats everyone fairly and equally, while occasionally using metaphors in her banter. As the Hakurei shrine maiden, she has considerable spiritual powers and unrivaled intuition, along with the ability to fly. It is with these abilities that she resolves many of Gensokyo's disasters with ease, beating the likes of ghosts, vampires, to even gods. Wait, a shrine maiden defeating gods...?
'Danmaku' is Japanese for 'curtain fire' and is also a game in Gensokyo where opponents shoot complex bullet patterns at each other. 'Youkai' is used as a catch-all word for anything not human, god, or animal, such as vampires or fairies.

Got it? Don't go around doing such thoughtless things anymore. Ambushing someone is all well and good, but throwing your heads at a person doesn't count as a proper Danmaku. Not only is it slow and cumbersome, it's also really hard to get rotten brains off of fabric! Well, I doubt any of you can hear me, seeing as how none of you have ears anymore. Though I guess most of you didn't even have ears in the first place, so it probably wouldn't have mattered.

Aa! Really! Since I've beaten up all the small-fry, shouldn't the boss show up right about now? What were they thinking, making the boundary this big anyway!? I've been looking for the criminal all this time, but at this rate, I'll end up rotted like those brain-dead youkai back there. Or is it 'dead brained'...? Anyway, if I checked all the suspicious areas, I'll probably find the culprit at some point. ... Is what I said, but I really don't feel like covering every square inch of this place. In that case... The 'most suspicious place' in a place that's completely suspicious is probably the place that's least suspicious? Then, I guess it's the lake afterall. Look, isn't it said that the greener the landscape, the healthier it is? And as far as I can see, there's no place that's greener than that lake. Although, if I think about it, I guess it is a little suspicious now that I think about it, but that can't be helped: It is still a green lake after all.

But you know, looking at this place more closely, I'm starting to wonder if I'm still really in Gensokyo. It didn't really seem all that different at first, but my intuition's telling me that something's off. Maybe it's just that the youkai seem a lot weaker than usual, or the overall atmosphere's just really different... Or it's probably the bird that was continuously screaming 'Welcome to Camp; Abandon all heterosexuality, all ye who enter!' over and over right into my ear. I guess I should have at least bothered to ask for details before I smacked it away with my rod.

--- Ah, here's the lake. So, I guess the huge tentacled thing here's the boss of this stage? Though, looking at you, you're the most unappetizing squid I've ever seen. Well, whatever. They all look the same when they're fried, and it's not like I'm in the habit of eating youkai anyw--- Aa!?!? Hey! Don't just go around grabbing people like that! Are you listening? Fine. They say the best way to teach a child manners is through a good spanking, so...

... Uh, hey, it was only a metaphor. What are you bending over for?
