A reflection for all those who think being the youth dude is easy...

So.... I have been reading a lot of youth groupies entries lately, and have been hearing so much though the grapevine. It hurts me to know that any of my kids are hurting. I have a lot to say, 'specially about the youth leader/JLR topic ( Read more... )

I'm sorry to hear how sad you are about all of the youth leaders and everything but don't worry about it. You picked great youthleaders. Eventhough I was one of the ones who was whom was not picked to be a youth leader I would like to say that you made a good choice. I am a freshmen and i will have plenty of oppertunities to re-apply in later years. I am, though its sad to say a little upset with what you said tonoght in youthgroup about people writting those thing on the internet. I love youth group and its like my own little monday night retreat.i look foward to youth group everyweek and its my one place to get away from all of the stresses of the week. Hey Joe!!!

I didn't realize how much agony it was for you to pick 8 out of 29 kids from your Youth Group. By all means, I don't doubt whom you did pick because they were all fantastic people. Nor does that mean those whom you didn't pick isn't leaders cause they are all leaders...we're all leaders if we believe in it and be it. The only solution I can come up for the future is have the parents who are involved pick the leaders. The catch is... give them the essays of those applying but without names so the parents don't know who's it is... have them rank it 1-2-3. Make sure their child(ren) isn't a part of the pile. TTYL.
