Title; The Silver Boy's Sparkler
Fandom/Pairing; Eunhyuk/Siwon
Rating; G
Summary; Siwon does his nightly routine of leaving the house after midnight when he feels lonely, and usually he spends that time by himself anyway. But this time, his neighbor spends that time with him, and maybe Siwon can learn that he doesn't have to be so lonely anymore.
Author's Note; Wrote it because I was feeling lonely. I wish I had an Eunhyuk to cheer me up, but I used this theme instead. Personally, I really like it. Love it, even. It's slightly rushed since I want to sleep, haha.
Whenever Siwon felt loneliness creeping up on him as he tried to sleep, he’d go outside, and just sit in the middle of the street that ran through his neighborhood. It’d always be dark and at least a few minutes past midnight. No cars would threaten him, usually.
But it was the best time for Siwon to tell himself to stop being lonely, even when he was alone there, smack dab in the middle of the street.
And so, that’s what he did that night, putting a sweater over his t-shirt, and slipping on warm sneakers over his bare feet. He thought of bringing his phone with him, but who was really going to call him at 3:48 AM?
No one. He didn’t get a lot of calls anyway. At least, ones that he would actually want to answer.
Sighing, he crossed his legs and stuffed his hands in his sweater pockets. He lifted his head to face the sky to see how littered with stars it was that evening, when he heard a strange noise from across the street. To Siwon, it sounded like something was crackling.
It wasn’t until he heard the distinct sound of footsteps along with the crackling getting closer to him that he turned around. The rubber of his sneakers scraped against the road underneath them as he faced his company.
“Morning, neighbor,” said Lee Hyukjae. Siwon was about to address him as ‘Hyukjae-hyung’ when he remembered that he didn’t go by his real name.
Siwon didn’t understand completely why he was called Eunhyuk. He understood that the older man didn’t want to be confused with Lee Hyukjae the comedian, but who was really going to mix them up? Sure, Eunhyuk was funny, but he wasn’t anyone famous, anyway, just like Siwon wasn’t anyone famous.
Besides, why ‘silver’? There was nothing silvery about this Lee Hyukjae that stood above Siwon.
“Uh, morning,” grumbled Siwon.
The sparkler in Eunhyuk’s hands was still crackling. Siwon thought the sound would be annoying, but it almost brought him a sense of comfort.
“Here,” Eunhyuk handed it to Siwon. “You look like you could use this.”
Siwon had no idea why he accepted it into his hands. “What am I supposed to do with it?”
“You wave it around, duh,” he said as he plopped himself down on the ground as well.
“Sounds thrilling,” Siwon did as he was ‘supposed’ to do with it, the same frown on his face ten seconds after the waving began. Either Eunhyuk’s sparkler was defective or Siwon just couldn’t find the joy in it.
But when he looked over at Eunhyuk, seeing the gleeful sparkle in his eyes as he smiled-showing his gums in such a dorky manner that it was endearing-Siwon felt the edges of his own lips curving upwards.
“Aha,” Eunhyuk grinned even wider, if it was possible, as he poked Siwon’s shoulder. “Got you to smile.”
“Why did you come over here?”
“Because you looked lonely.”
Siwon resisted letting out a chuckle. Maybe Eunhyuk could read his mind, or maybe Siwon was just that easy to read that anyone could translate what was going on inside.
“I was.”
“So you aren’t now?” Eunhyuk looked hopeful, although he tried to hide it. But Siwon noticed that his neighbor was just as easy to read as he himself may have been.
“Nope.”
Eunhyuk folded his hands in his lap. “That’s good.”
“Thanks.”
“Thanks?” he raised a questioning eyebrow.
Siwon nodded. “For bringing me this,” he waved the slowly dying sparkler around. “Even if I don’t know how I’m supposed to use it properly.”
Eunhyuk smiled-those precious gums showing up again. “Well, we’ll have to work on that.”
