Day 20 - Favorite theme. (School life, vampires, neko.. etc..)

Now that I think about it, I really don't have a favorite theme. I'll usually read anything, although there are times I go with the cover art, and sadly discover that the cover is the only thing that was good in the manga. I do prefer real life situations and characters and I am wary ( Read more... )

Yeah, so makes the saying "don't judge the book by its cover" so very, very true. :)

Well, some of her stories are so weird and out of there that I believe they could only have been conceived when she was stoned. And I'd like to get some of that. XD

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm totally with you. XD

It is very disappointing when the cover is awesome and the rest sucks, isn't it?

Yep, like there was a mistake somewhere and I think that the cover was intended for another story, the story that I want to read. XD

Yeah, they're not. They only end up as funny or with some action/adventure.

I'm also a sucker for pretty cover art lol XD
Naono Bohra and Ike Reibun's stories can be pretty crazy sometimes but nothing like high-on-crack(the good? kind)-Sakurai Shushushu's stories. Vibrator Company, anyone?

I love Sakurai Shushushu! I consider her a class of her own. Her works defy logic, reality, and reason. They're also so unpretentious and unapologetic.

I usually find myself attracted to supernatural stories, but almost always find them dissapointing plot-wise.

There are some other mangakas whose stories are plain weird: Chintsubu by Yamato Nase left me dumbfounded, and I think there was a story by Watanabe Asia that didn't make any sense, I thought she must have been high on something while drawing. XD

I'm a total sucker for beautiful artwork too, but lately I'm starting to like sketchy art styles (for example Hideyoshiko).

Edit: I forgot to say that I love the new layout of your blog. :)

Thanks! It's quite summer-y, right?

I think authors usually use up most of their imagination and creativity thinking of the supernatural aspects of their story that the other parts get neglected. I'd go with normal, everyday stories that are well-written over supernatural stuff any day.
