I'm not much of an expert here, but one thing does come to mind. If the ratties will be sexually mature in a week, they are probably old enough to be self-sufficient (were they out and about). What Blackberry was doing might be the equivalent of a mama bird pushing a baby bird out of the nest. Given the cage, it may have gotten over done since poor ratties had nowhere to go.
I don't know, of course, but this is a possibility. Most animals follow a definite timeline, and a part of it has to do with the point when they are meant to be independent.
Do keep an eye on Blackberry just in case. Does she seem to be feeling OK?
