Such deep eyes and strong text, and the eternal blackness behind the skulls really makes this a powerful post. The pain in this country may vary but the eye expression of these children is universal. Strong and very, very sad.
I love that you think and write about things other than yourself. It keeps me somewhat in check. I remember reading about Rwanda like, six months ago and being outraged. "How could we do this? How could we stand by while people are killed and women are raped and children forced to watch their families slaughtered?" It's a horribly depressing thought, that we've got so much and we can't share any of it. I always wondered how we can fixate on Oprah when so many people are dying. But I'm the ultimate hypocrite and switch the channel when relief ads come on, because I know I'll only feel guilty for being too young to do anything about it. My aunt works for Trocaire, this Irish charity, and she's been to Guatemala. When the time comes, she's who I'm going to to find out what I can do.
