I love that in the final Confidential they were all like "did you notice this season's foreshadowing? Yeah, it was Torchwood" I was like "No? Really? You don't say." I barely noticed Bad Wolf was a theme until Boomtown it was that good and that subtle. I thought the Torchwood thing was supposed to be blatantly obvious, which would've been fine, but the fact it was supposed to be the sekrit theme? My mind, it does boggle.

I think they made a serious mistake not getting the writers to liaise. The one that grated on me the most was the difference between Rose's reaction to Mickey coming with them in School Reunion then in GitF. It was shockingly badly done and not SM's fault at all. That's how S1 Rose would have reacted, after all - all excited that she had Mickey to show it all to ( ... )

Apparently on the commentary for Doomsday, Julie Gardiner said they wanted Ten to have some big breakdown after Pete dragged Rose off to the other Earth but DT said he didn't think that was the right thing to do.

That was actually the bit I was referring to with the best scene statement. Graham Harper had also made reference to it in the confidential. I think a lot of what we might see as problems with Ten have come from the highest levels, and it is worrying that they haven't got it right. Although as someone said elsewhere (possibly tennant_love?), it's their baby, so who are we to criticise what they want to do with it? I just have a horrible feeling that New Who isn't going to last as long as they think it will, because the fans aren't getting what they want. And I think if that does happen, poor DT will get the blame ( ... )

Writers should ALWAYS liaise when writing a series. It's only common sense. Unfortunately, it seems to be a common theme not to :-( Which is a real shame.

As much as I actually *like* the soppy and melodramatic bits, they do have a tendancy to beat you over the head with it a few times :-(

(and that was the best scene... because I think the Doctor has been through too much to have some big breakdown after Rose had gone. He's the strong silent type).
