OK, so gingerelanor asked me if I'd post scans of the old photos, so here they are. There may be notes accompanying them, for my own uses, otherwise I'll forget what my mum and dad told me!

It is fascinating to see them. I have a pile from my mum as well. What are you planning on doing with them?

Nothing really, other than preserving them on computer/cd should anything disastrous happen to the originals. I'll use them for scrapbooks as well of course, but I would never dare use the originals! We've really only just found them so I don't know what my mum is planning to do with the originals.

My mum has kept the originals and I have scanned copies of some of them. I also have the announcement of my grandparents wedding from the paper scanned. I want to scan all the old certificates as wel, but they don't fit in the scanner.

Could you take photos of the certificates? I know it's not the same, but at least you'd have a record of them then. Or is there any way you can scan half at a time and join the pictures?

Oh wow! They're fab. Post more, post more!

Can I tell my friend myrtlebaggins to come and have a look? She'd love them.

Have you ever looked at the oldphotoaffair comm? They'd love them too.

They're the most interesting ones, I have to say. There are a few more of my mum and her siblings as kids, and one more India one of a totally unknown family.

Yes you can, but I'll have to unlock the entry first. :) And no, I don't think I've been to that site.

I love old pics! Amazing how so many people from those eras just looked alike! :) The pic of your unkown ancestor is fab, if you'd like, I'd be happy to restore it for you to remove all the flaws? I've been doing it with my own family pics and think I'm pretty good at it. i want to create a portfolio so i can do it for cash eventually but obviously I'm just doing them for free just now! :)

Here's a pic I've done so you can see:

Drop me an email if you'd like. :)

That's fantastic! I can do some myself (I got lazy with these ones!) but I can't do faces. Do you think you'd be able to do anything with the wedding photo? The original is so creased for some reason, and you can see how it came out on the scan. And if you could fix the unknown lady one as well, that would be fantastic.

Should I attach them to an email?

I thought the wedding photo was maybe a double exposure, but I'll certainly give it a go. If you can scan them as big as possible (well obiovusly not THAt big but maybe about 400 pixels) and then attach to an email, I'll give them a go. Can you specify a date you want them finished by? ie this week, next week etc cos otherwise I'll forget. :)

Hi there!

Mind if I Friend you (and mind Friending me back)? It looks like you're on a fair few of my Friends' Friends lists already, and we share a fair few mutual interests too, so it seems a shame not to!

All the best,

David.
