Facebook is evil!

I refuse to get on such a site, as it is, I can't get people to come and meet me....like I really want to deal with a site where people really don't get together? But it's annoying that people don't post how they really feel here as much as they do there....even if it's little blurbs ( Read more... )

Er, I think the point of Facebook is to keep up with people when you can't get together. Most of my Facebook friends aren't local. Even the ones that are local, I'm getting glimpses of their day-to-day lives that I don't get when I'm not on Facebook.

And status updates are different than Livejournaling. It's just a completely different type of communication. I wouldn't Livejournal the sorts of tidbits I tweet (and then post on Facebook). I don't post links here, or share news articles. Here, I post about my life and my feelings. There, I post about other stuff. It's a different way of communicating.

So, I'm not sure I understand your reservations about Facebook.

I get the tidbits and small updates...but why not share news articles?

Perhaps I would if I had a deep personal reaction to something and wanted to actually discuss it. But generally, no, I wouldn't post a random article that's interesting but I don't have any particular comment on. This is a journal for me, not a clip-share site, and I'm not willing to plug up my friend's Friends list here with a lot of news articles and clips. That's why there's Facebook!

I use different sites for different things. To me, this simply isn't the place to share such things.
