is anyone else nervous about this?

At first I didn't give the whole avian bird flu thing much thought. Guess it was the typical "I'm untouchable" syndrome. Nothing can hurt us, we're advanced, we're the USA!

But now I'm growing more concerned, especially because I have a husband with a suppressed immune system (transplant drugs).

I watched a show about this not too long ago, and it scared the bejeezus out of me. It worries me for my aunt, because she has a compromised immune system also. She can't even be around someone with a cold.

Sadly, it appears to be only a matter of time. We can only cross out fingers and hope that when it makes the leap to human-to-human transmission that it loses some of its kick.

That, and they've come up with a nice vaccine to kick its ass!

I don't think this will do much. Pandemics happen, it follows a cycle. But I don't think this is it.

Yes, I do think it's a worry, but more from the martial law and other nastiness our gov will throw out once it gets here. Forced quaranteens, high prices for chicken and other poultry, it's scary.

If bird flu hits, there will be a lot of deaths, too. It's only a matter of time. It's close to spring, so birds are already migrating.

Exactly my fear. Wouldn't it be cool if we could build a huge net to cover the country so birds couldn't get in from other countries where the bird flu has been detected? I know, I know, wishful thinking.

BTW, I like your new icon. :)

I am fearful for your husband... And yet amused by your icon.

Should say 'concerned', not fearful.

Concerned, fearful, all of the above!

Fearful doesn't even begin to describe how I feel.
