Oh My...

I just did a google on the people I interviewed with today... My instincts were correct.. I found this..

"Last October I received a phone call for an interview at Endeavor Advertising Inc. I was so excited. I showed up for the first interview and thought the office was way tiny. Then I made it supposedly over 25 other people for a second interview ( Read more... )

Actually... I wasn't right, this one sounds much worse!! The one I was at, hired phone reps to go down a list of computer generated random phone numbers and call people and say "Congratulations, you have the opportunity to purchase, yada yada yada" and another set of employees (actually paid) would drive to their home, deliver the coupon book, and if they received payment, THEN you would get like $2 commission. I was pretty much a kid then, so my bullshit detector was not yet honed (and I was also still in my foster home, out of high school but not able to do much of anything else, so I saw it as a time killer) I showed up for a week, sold a couple coupon books, then quit when they never produced a paycheck. Their "ceo," a fast talking guy in a cheap suit with a mullet, was SUPER EXCITED about everything... well of course he was. He took my money ( ... )

Just be wary if they contact you for any reason. I have you listed as a reference and all.

I think I may start researching any companies Ive never heard of should I get another call for an interview.

If they call me, I'll show them what for!

Yeah if you haven't heard of a company, you should always google it... I've had to research a few companies for work recently so my google-fu skills when it comes to validating businesses are pretty good these days, let me know if there's anyone you can't find anything on :-)

Yeah. That article was the FIRST thing to pop up from Google. I wish I had done that first and saved myself a bus trip and walking in the rain/ Ah well.

See I didnt think I had to because it didnt surprise me that I have never heard of the company. I know dick about sports, and dick about marketing. So there is no reason I would know of a company that combines the two.

But the old adage applies. If it seems too good to be true it probbaly is.

I got dupped into on of those interviews with I was about 20. And the "manager" who interviewed me, told me that I was going to be working in marketing and writing commercials, but first I had to do this other thing. Then he took me and one other interviewer out in his beat up old car (in retrospect I was dumb for getting in his car) and drove us out to the middle of god knows where to a strip center. He went door to door celling GLAMOR SHOTS coupons. He was rude, mean, racist and all kinds of other not good things to the people who turned him down, which was all 5 shops we went into. He then asked me and the other guy if we were interested, I told him off and said that I wanted to go back to the office. He said he couldn't do that, and said my options were get dropped off at the local mall or get dropped off at a bus station. He dropped me at the bus station, not even telling me where I was. I had to ask the one random security guard to help me figure out how to get back to my care. 4 hours later.... I found my way back. I ( ... )

Yeah, as a young girl, I was thinking to myself of all the other horrible things that could have happened to me. Lost, no cell phone in the big city for the first time... it was a little scary, luckily I'm not the kinda girl that freaks out or panics. I was soooo left off in the wrong side of town, and dressed in a skirt and heels, and got propositioned twice! Once by some guy unloading a truck and once by a homeless guy!!!!!! Dear gawd!

I was hoping so much to have them shut down. I wrote my story up and sent into the BBB, the newspaper I got the ad from, and to a local TV station's reporter, but nothing was really done.
