Today I got lost in San Francisco and it was amazing. I want an accurate record of this day so I'm writing this even though I am tired and should probably just sleep already.
So anyways, here's a long ass entry and a lot of medium sized pictures
.
Also, this is my first time using the scrapbook feature on here so I hope it doesn't suck.
Anyways, my aunt dropped off at the West Oakland BART station around 1 and I headed into SF. I got off at the station with all the cable cars (Powell St., I think?) and I ended up shelling out $13 for a muni day pass, which was the best thing I ever did. And then I stood in a long ass line to get on the cable car towards Fishermans Wharf.
This is the long ass line and also they were turning the cable car around.
So anyways, I took one of those suckers down as far as it would go and then I walked down to one of the piers (I can't remember which but there was a lot of clam chowder and sourdough bread being sold there. Ew.) And I walked around for a while and took a bunch of pictures and it was a fun time.
Eventually I walked over to Pier 39, grabbed some food and took a couple more random pictures plus I went to see the sea lions.
This little fucker kept trying to divebomb me and steal my churro. He did not win.
This is Coit Tower. You will need to remember this.
The antisocial sea lion.
I like to imagine he is thinking "I'm a sea liooon, suuuck my diiiick, I'm a sea lioonnn."
He was totally waving at me.
This picture would have been so awesome if the fucking boat wasn't in the way :(
Anyways, after this, I was trying to catch a bus from around Fisherman's Wharf and head over to Coit Tower. This did not happen. I got on one of those old-fashioned buses (I can't think of their proper name right now) and a shit ton of people were packed in there like fucking sardines. And I was right near the door which is no where near the line you pull when you want to get off the bus. So we breezed right by the stop I was supposed to get off at... and then we kept going. For a long ass time. I jumped off the next time the bus finally stopped and this is where I was:
This is not Coit Tower. This is some kind of ferry building. Where is Coit Tower from here? I haven't the fucking slightest. I seriously had NO IDEA where I was except that there were a lot of tall buildings around me and I was possibly going to get raped and/or murdered. And so I took off. I just kind of found a direction and went in it and found some random cable car. I didn't even think to look at where it was going, I just knew it was heading up the steep hills I definitely did not want to walk up and I needed to get somewhere. And then, hey! I was in Chinatown!
I had wanted to walk around Chinatown after I went to the Coit Tower so I decided this would be a good time to do it.
Seriously, though, Chinatown was awesome. I pretty much stayed on this one street because I knew if I walked it all the way down I would end up back at Fisherman's Wharf where there were too many people around for raping or murdering but there were tons of open markets and it just smelled awesome. And I took a bunch of pictures as I walked too because... idk, it seemed like the thing to do.
Anyways, eventually I ended up in North Beach and there was a park! And I was very excited about this because I had been walking in the sun for hours and my feet needed a rest. Also, there was a pretty church. And there were a ton of people getting ticketed by the cops for who knows what reason so at least I had some live entertainment.
And I found Coit Tower again! Except by then it was time for me to try to find the 47 bus to head over to where I was meeting my aunt for dinner. So no Coit Tower for me :(
So then I caught the bus and actually managed to get on the right one, heading in the right direction and I got to stand in an actual spot near the "STOP THE FUCKING BUS" cord. And I got off at the right spot and managed to find where I was going right away!
It was right near City Hall. And then I had dinner and got a little tipsy and it was good times.
We left there and my aunt drove through the Castro district and I saw a naked man in a sailor hat walking around like it was perfectly normal, which was great. And then we went up to Twin Peaks and holy shit, it was gorgeous. I could not properly capture it's "holy-shit-balls" amazingness on film because my camera was being annoying but I did managed to get a picture on my phone.
Anyways, tomorrow I've got to start packing for Vegas/Arizona and then we are going back to Twin Peaks. And then we're doing some fun touristy shit around the Golden Gate. But seriously, today was amazing and you get one thousand gold stars if you read this whole entry.
