[the handwriting is very precise, deliberately neat and official.]

Miss Bastet, Mr. Stoneface, I was wondering if I could speak with the two of you. Upon joining the Guard not long after my arrival, I realized that it was definitely the kind of work I was cut out for, however I feel that my abilities are not being used to their potential ( Read more... )

Becoming a Watchwoman, ehhhh? I'm sure you'll be amazing at it.

Now, Derrick, you know flattery will get you nowhere.

A man can try, though.

I suppose you always manage to get an A for effort.

Hello, Nikki, this is Stoneface. So long as Bastet's all right with me having another one of her Guards on the Watch I'm willing to give you an interview, especially if you've been a copper in the past.

Thank you for your consideration. Of course I would want to make certain it's all right with Bastet to divide my duties, so I appreciate your patience while I work it out. I'll definitely be in touch.

Want to set up a log sometime? Or quicklog here? stonyfaced September 1 2010, 00:25:12 UTC
Good. Let me know when you're ready and we can give it a go. If you don't want to write on this thing, just ask any of my lads--they'll know where I am.

Thank you, Qi. Without your suggestion I don't know that I would have really considered this option.

sometimes it's better to have a mirror that says hello

sometimes it's worse but not always

[She reads this a couple times, and is left with that familiar feeling of getting the idea of what Qi is saying, even if she has no real idea what she actually said.]

Law enforcement, hm? No wonder you knew your way around the range.

So it would seem. A detective, not to put too fine a point on it. I guess that costume really did know something I did't.

Aha, so it'd seem. Can't say mine was nearly so informative, but nice to see some of us are getting little hints here and there.

Does this mean you'll be keeping that bubble pipe on you from now on?

Well at least yours had the right accent associated with it. [lulz go here.]

Unfortunately, the bubble pipe vanished with the rest of the costume, but I might have to invest in a magnifying glass.

Very professional of you. It could be nice to have someone around whose handwriting is occasionally legible.

Thank you. Normally I think I would print a formal letter of intent from a computer, but since that wasn't really an option I figured my best penmanship would do.

I don't believe we've spoken before. I'm Nikki, it's nice to meet you.

A computer?

I'm Elsa. I'm on the Watch.

[Oh! She forgets that some people might not know what that is.]

Yes, a computer. It's a [pause] machine that can do many tasks for people. It can write your words for you in very precise uniform letters, for example, so that you can make your letters and memos look very professional. That is called typing. They can do lots of things, but that is one of their main functions.

It's a pleasure, Elsa. I hope perhaps we will be able to work together.
