"Calm down," Emma McNab said to her brother as she climbed into his jeep. For the first time since he bought it two years ago he climbed into the passenger side, fingers drumming on his knees after he buckled himself in. "Seriously

Peter was up, he was up under the pretense of trying to study. He was more or less just staring into empty space. What in the world was he doing? He was going to meet face to face with a guy who he had only talked to online. Granted they talked about a lot of things and for a while but wow. This was insane.
The is was Adam levels of insane. He laughed. At least he wouldn't end up grounded for this stunt. When his phone chimed with the arrival of a new text message, he picked it up and looked at the display.
Part of him was maybe hoping it was the hospital with work related concerns just so he'd have an excuse--it wasn't. It was Buzz.
He took a deep breath before flipping open his phone and choosing the option to phone back the caller instead of replying via text. As he was waiting for the other man to answer, he was picking up his car keys and slipping on his shoes. Readjusting the brace on his leg.
Peter was up. Partially a surprise to Buzz and partially obvious. He seemed like the insomniac type if only in the way he spoke. It wasn't like Buzz knew this for sure but it was how he thought and for whatever reason that's what he thought of when he saw that Peter was calling him back.
Oh, voices. They were going to use their voices.
Pressing the call-enter button he brought his phone to his ear. "Hey," he said, raspy before clearing his throat. "Hey." It came out clearer this time. "Peter, hi."
He needed to say something else. "You're up." He hit himself with the phone lightly for that.
"I'm awake, yeah. So are you. Obviously." He laughed softly and let himself out onto the side porch. He didn't want anyone in the family to overhear his conversation if they happened to be awake. And knowing them, at least one of his family members was awake somewhere in the house.
"How...how was your flight?" He winced at his idiotic question but he really was at a loss here.
"I am," Buzz said, realizing how ridiculous this all really was. They hadn't reached a profound base in the conversation and here they were stumbling over a topic. Buzz laid back on the bed, nodding, smiling, albeit awkardly.
"It was..." Buzz started, his hand coming to his forehead. Maybe he was getting a head ache. Sighing, he sat up, thinking. In reality it took him about half a second to come to a conclusion. Yes, he had done this impulsively and yes, they didn't know all that much about each other but he was here. And so was Peter. And he was going to show Peter who the hell Buzz was.
"No. I mean, good, but no. No. I came her -- and we're not going to stumble over conversation or feel awkward. Because, we like each other and I'm in New York -- and New York isn't about awkward...or apples come to think of it which is kind of ridiculous since it's the Big -- OK? Let's go out."
He dropped his gaze then. Cute, adorable, handsome. He got those a lot. Never beautiful. Well, no there was once, but he was wearing Grace's dress so she could fix the hem and it was Adam cracking a joke..."Thank you."
He tried to not wince at the bad singing, managed an amused smirk. "Yeah...no. Don't know that one."
Of course, as soon as he said that he hoped he wasn't encouraging Buzz to sing more of the song. The man probably couldn't carry a tune if he had a bucket to put it in. Yeesh. Or as Josh would say, 'Oy and a great big Vey.'
"Emma sings it all the time, that and "I Kissed a Girl". That one she sings in public," he said. "She's not big on humiliation. The world is really her oyster...or her stage."
"Good for her." He shook his head, it didn't surprise him that Emma had no sense of shame. She came across as very extroverted when they chatted. And she'd lived in NYC for a while, you don't get by here by being shy.
