Back to planning [Locked to Team Science, Willow, Rikku, Sara Sidle, and Kida; difficult to hack]

Alright, ladies n' gents!  This is kinda overdue, so  sorry for that, but we've got some important projects to take care of.

First up: Zero's Call Boxes
So far's I can tell, the schematics're on the up-and-up, and the idea's a great one.  Havin' a psycho like that Birdman fella around ain't all that comfy, so this one's long overdue.  I've attached ( Read more... )

checkup, police plaza, team science, science!

You have my deepest thanks! Between the two of us, I am certain we can make what I need. I will see what other supplies I can find, including coals. I will bring a diagram of what I need as well. What are we still in need of?

I found some scrap steel I could forge. Dependin' on what'cha need, we might need more, but I doubt it. Still, more of that wouldn't hurt, 'specially if I screw somethin' up.

I'm also lookin' for mineral oil to use for the quench tank, if you can find any. That's one of the vital bits.

I will see what I can find for both. I have little worry of finding more steel in the rubble. The oil may be harder, but I may know a few places I can search.

Good! I'll see you there. Check the attachment for a map.

((ooc comment: Just pretend there's a map.))

After science, exploration is my specialty! I'd be most certainly glad to assist with this.

The blueprints look good. I'm just worried it might attract crab attention is all. Think we can make it durable?

Huh? Oh! Hold on, there's this overlay here...first off, see the box right now? Well...there. I was lookin' at it before, and the shape seems okay, but we'll need a stronger steel than what we normally get around here to make it safe. Maybe scavenge some from the girders 'round junked buildings and get the forge or Russel workin' on shaping them.

On top o' that, the crabs hunt mostly by sound. They won't be lookin' for the boxes, I don't think. If they are, though...we could probably change the shape of the box, angle the faces to baffle sonar, make it seem like just another part of the wall. That plus the wireless backup'd mean that even if you find 'em lyin' on the street, they oughta work if the network underground's still fine up to a certain distance.

That should work. I have some scavenging I wanted to do soon, anyway. Russel's all right to work, I hope.

Point. Disguising them shouldn't be too necessarily; the crabs' eyesight aren't the greatest. I think angling should work better, just in case those snappers come around. Do you suppose we should take any defensive measures? Installing some sort of wireless weapon feature. I could make pellet shots out of the hot sauce I keep at the clinic, since those work fairly well on the crabs.

That'd require someone workin' surveillance to make sure it isn't someone tryin' to use the box. Considerin' our resources, Team Science can't take charge of that all by ourselves. Bring it up with Miss Aya...or Zero, if you have to. If we can devote folks to it, so much the better, but right now, we're lackin' the means to make it practical.

Though, a mechanical linkage that sprays ID dye and pepper spray if someone or something tries removin' them from their anchor points? That might work, and that's just as easy as puttin' a pressure trigger or somethin' in the back. What'cha think?
