Oh, YOU. XD Dammit, I'm going to have to do Brutus/Cassius twice, aren't I?
Brutus/Cassius (Julius Caesar):
1. When I started to ship them:
Well, when we first started the Caesar unit in my English class, before we'd even gotten the book to read, I thought "Rule 34: there must be fic!" So I went online, found bard_slash that same day, and LO! There was fic indeed. But they were ALL THE SAME PAIRING - what?? I recognized that one name, but who the fuck's Cassius

Eee! Your answers are much more in-depth than mine! :)
I knew the story of JC before reading it in school, so I knew about Cassius, but only really from those "Stories from Shakespeare" type of books, and they just tended to depict Cassius as the snake in the grass who manipulates poor Brutus into killing Caesar for his own nefarious purposes. Way to oversimplify, books! >:| So the genuine affection between them, especially Cassius', came as a bit of a surprise. Funnily enough, our teacher never really dwelt on the friendship aspect of their relationship, and just really focused on them being foils for each other. :(
I kinda started to ship it from "your friend that loves you." Because we were all thirteen/fourteen, we all snickered a bit, all "Hur hur he just told him he loved him!". But I tried telling myself that was just Shakespearean dialogue, it was all perfectly platonic... then got to "For who so firm that cannot be seduced?" and decided that nah, he wanted him! ;)
at its heart their story is one of a murder. There's that
