HAMLET IS NOT AN ALLEGORY FOR DOOMSDAY
This article made me scream into a pillow several times. Okay here goes:
There is one "good" family, and one "evil" family.
Laertes is Jesus.
Ophelia is the Virgin Mary. (So... Laertes is her son, then?)
Also, Polonius is God.
NO.
NO NO NO NO NO
*sigh*
Who's got a guess as to which is the "evil" family?
Gertrude is the Whore of Babylon.
Claudius is the Beast from the Apocalypse. "Claudius is of course the name of the Julio-Claudian dynasty of Caesars." Um... No? It's not? It was the name of the Claudian family, which was the half of the Julio-Claudian dynasty that was NOT the Caesars? UUUUUGH.
"Old Hamlet" is in Hell, apparently (and he comes out at night? did they stamp his hand, or something?), because he's associated with Hyperion who is "similar to" Apollo, who in the Book of Revelations is King of Hell. NO THIS IS BULLSHIT. *bangs head* okay. So then they quote a line to show that he's associated with the devil: "The spirit that I have seen may be the devil" &c, and then they completely contradict themselves because
Hamlet is the Anti-Christ.
UUUUUUUUUGH WHAT IS THIS. Fast-forward to 0:45, if you please.

They then compare him to Brutus "whose name means simpleton", and Polonius to Julius Caesar. They also try to make the parallel to Lucifer, by saying that "in the Roman story [lol you mean history?] Brutus was not the character's original name, which was Lucius meaning 'light, or shining'". NO IT WASN'T YOU'RE THINKING OF THE BRUTUS WHO DROVE OUT THE TARQUINS. I SUPPOSE NOW YOU WANT TO TELL ME THAT TARQUIN WAS THE HOLY GHOST? NO BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT HISTORY.
ALSO YOU CAN'T SAY HAMLET IS NERO BECAUSE NERO KILLED CLAUDIUS BECAUSE NERO DIDN'T.

*sigh* I mean, I understand that that's the fantastic thing about Shakespeare, that you can interpret it so many ways, but NO NO NO A THOUSAND TIMES NO AND ALSO
it just doesn't make any sense
