Those of you who read my LJ about two years ago know of Toby, whom I referenced as "Chemo Kitty" when I first got him. I remember wondering if he'd live to six months, or two years, or live a healthy life

Sorry to hear about your problem there (and now your loss), but...I dunno. Something about killing a "perfectly healthy" cat due to a behavioral problem rubs me the wrong way. And it's not like I haven't felt that kind of frustration, becuase my Boo used to shit on the floor every day, even though I cleaned her box every day. I replaced her box and put another box in the apartment and her "shitty" behavior stopped (but happenes every once in a while when the boxes aren't cleaned to her liking).

*nods* I do see your point and it's well-taken, but I just want to point out a couple of things. First, Toby wasn't really "perfectly healthy". Even though the vet couldn't find anything physically wrong with his urinary system, he had been born with very poor health and though we did the best we could, he did have some physical problems (though they didn't seem to cause him pain). Secondly, the wetting was only one symptom of his emotional/behavioural problems - he got very agitated and distressed easily, particularly when parted from me for more than a few hours. And thirdly, we had really tried for a long time to bear with Toby's wetting, clawing of furniture, terrorising of his sister Miko etc. he was a good and affectionate cat and none of us wanted to have to do it. I lost count of the number of times we discussed possible euthanasia for Toby and deciding to give coping with it "one more go". It wasn't a decision we made lightly or out of 'convenience', I promise you. There was a lot of heartache involved

Seriously, since you posted this? In an out of sorts, particularly the last week. Unexpected crap happens all of the time, and it seems like it's just been happening non-frickin'-stop since we fell out of communication. Dunno whether that's good or bad...but I'd just like the drama to end, for G-d's sake. I'd like to be able to cuddle kittens in the sunshine without worries for once, LOL. >_>

Again, sorry for your loss.
