[ Atoli's expression is a little sad, but after the video starts she covers it up with a small smile. ]Um... Hello everyone! I have a question for you all, if you don't mind answering

I guess so... But I like to think that everyone's mostly good! Maybe something happened to them that set them on a bad road, but... They were truly good before that!
People are born selfish, but they usually learn quite quickly how to love and care for others, generally by example.
As for the "core"... Technically, it would be selfish. Maybe not mean, as I doubt there's any malice behind it, but self preservation instincts are very powerful.
I wouldn't say "selfish"... Maybe it's more that they just don't know how to deal with people. They have to learn social skills, of course.
But it's only natural to also want to take care of people close to you, right? It's possible it's a mix of selfishness and selflessness, but I think it's leaning more towards selflessness!
What I mean is... When you're born, you cry to get food and attention and you don't really consider other people's feelings right away. It's not mean-spirited, but it's for your own sake so it's selfish. "Social skills" isn't the same as kindness, but you learn that and how to love by example from your parents and people like that, who show it to you first.
That's true. But I wouldn't call that the core of human nature, that's an extra thing that sometimes outweighs your core, depending on who you are.
That's true enough, I guess... But I like to think that deep down, even in babies, there's kindness and selflessness that just haven't been discovered yet, that are waiting to be brought out by learning what those feelings are.
Then, to me, the core is selflessness, that's only tainted by the occasional want of something selfish!
