Last nights ratings for the CW were pretty crappy. Is it wrong that I'm so VERY very pleased by this?

The last week NEW episodes of SV and SPN aired the CW had 2.40 mil over all viewers. Last night they had 1.19 mil. Now I don't know much about ratings but I'm pretty sure a loss of nearly 1.20 mil viewers isn't good.(especially considering that ( Read more... )

Thank you! I was really hoping to see the ratings take a fall after what they did so I kept checking the site. I thought someone over at Dean_Sam would have posted it but I guess others have more of a life than I do lol. I think our fandom should pat ourselves on the back again. We might not have done much but I really think that it's because we spread the word so quickly that the numbers dropped.

Does that take in account the markets where it was replaced with other programing, meaning it actually had less viewers on thursday? I thought that was one of the main reasons they did that as two of their biggest markets were going to be showing sports that night instead of VD/N and that can give an unrealistic ratings boost..?

As far as I know, they don't count those viewers. I live in Baltimore where it was preempted and SPN gets preempted a lot as well. However, when spn got preempted they'd show it on Saturday here (even when spn aired on Thursdays). I believe the final ratings were taken after spn aired in the preempted states. So I feel like the ratings above don't include Baltimore and Chicago but I'm not sure. That was what the CW claimed the reason was, and supposedly Nikita was a promotional episode for some car manufacture or something, but I'm not sure. Sorry if I just made it even more confusing.

Heh! Nope, not wrong at all. I'm pretty much ecstatic over it myself! *shakes head* Poor, poor, poor clueless CW.

I really like to think the numbers would have been even somewhat better if SV and SPN had aired. :) I'd think that a lot of folks turned on the tv and went "This AGAIN?? That's it, I'm watching Fringe (or whatever else)." *click*

Their choices still make no sense to me whatsoever. There's that excuse that they thought it would be inappropriate to air the SV ep because of the shooting in Tuscon, but it still makes me wonder why they still couldn't air SPN. Are they supposed to be a combo and air strictly like this?

Happy weekend :)

I actually made a post on facebook telling people about the switch lol. I had a whole bunch of SV fans messaging me to thank me and according to them the SV episode with the shooting wasn't the one that would have aired on Friday. There's been so many stories though. The one I feel made most sense, since CW claimed it was "legal issues", is that Nikita's episode was being sponsored by a car company and they needed to make sure the show got a decent viewer count under contract or something. I feel like they moved it to get more viewers and decided to just move VD as well and help it out even more (as if it needs any extra with the damn vampire craze ( ... )
