Caught a bit of the "encore telecast" of the first ep of the finals of Singapore Idol just now, the one where Beverly and Jessye (sp?) gets booted out. Ok so I only watched it starting from the results, but no loss considering how badly most of them sang. I surprise myself for following the competition although I would possibly be the person least interested in the whole shebang. However, I must say that even with my rudimentary knowledge of popular music and culture, it was all too obvious that the protagonist cannot sing for nuts. So in a way, anti-Christian sentiment or not (which may I clarify is definitely NOT why I am one of those "slamming" him), it would more likely be why, to paraphrase Ken Lim, he's "still here" when stalwarts have been given the boot... Then again, it is a popularity contest and not a talent contest...

True, true... You cannot deny the fact that it seems more like a popularity contest than a talent contest, but I second the fact that he can't sing for nuts. Well, maybe he can, but the genre that suits him best is so narrowed down that he cannot do other songs. And I cannot believe that he gave up a high paying accountancy job to do busking...

But one thing we can admire about him is his strength of courage and faith.
