Marty's at a concert right now, so to speak. Mother... well, Mother's got an overdeveloped sense of danger that comes in really handy sometimes. Since they can't trust the company offices, they've got to be somewhere- and he's almost certain that nobody's spooks've compromised his own apartment.

This week.

Yet.

Carl... isn't looking forward to it at all. Having to crash at Mother's made for a really good incentive for him to get his own place.
But at the same time, it means he can vouch for the added security. Either way, this ought to be interesting.

Suzi demanded a pause by home first. She needed to feed the dog...and get her bucket of cleaning supplies. She saw the office before she showed up. There is no way she's going near Mother's place without her supplies.

Whistler, for his part, is busy wincing as they come up the stairs to the apartment. "Mother," he says, "how many dog owners are there in this building?"

"There used to be four or five, but most of them moved out a long time ago," Mother says. "Why?"

"You've got at least two systems sounding off in the nineteen thousand cycle range," Whistler says. "Any canine walking past this place is gonna get an earful of fingernails on a blackboard."

"Oh, good," says Mother. "Then that's probably another layer of effective surveillance jamming."

Whistler would roll his eyes, if it made any kind of difference at all.

"...Well, at least it's a good thing for right now."
Carl still thinks it's excessive... but it's Mother.
