Picture a day starting 2/25/09

So me and a few friends have decided to do our own "biggest looser" but without the humiliation. I personally looked in a mirror at my profile recently and noticed that I have a very large hanging gut. It wasn't as if I was surprised, I know I'm a fatty... but it was just a bit shocking to look in the mirror and see a medium beach ball of fat ( Read more... )

Hey, we met a couple of times at Shane's parties and in Indiana for Andy's b-day, but I'm Nicki. I just wanted to say that this is an awesome goal and a couple of little tips that help me when I find myself eating too much of the junk. I always try to keep a bowl in the fridge of pre-cut and pre-washed fruit (grapes, strawberries, melon, etc.) because when I feel the need to snack I always go for what's easy. Keeping healthy, low-cal food in a convenient spot will help you choose them instead of chips or what have you. If I felt the urge to eat because I'm bored, I would make myself go running or to the gym instead. I figured if I'm so bored that I just want to eat, I can just as easily go for a walk and burn calories instead. I've heard that drinking water will help to curb hunger as well because most of the time when we think we're hungry, we're actually just thirsty. Worth a shot. Diet sodas and such are supposed to be counter-productive I hear. Your body thinks it's getting sugars but when it doesn't, it causes you to overeat on ( ... )

my many cents:

1) 10 min of elevated heart rate a day will help increase your metabolism...that is a long walk to and from your car....really simple change! if it is cold or wet it will wake you up, if it is sunny or hot you get some vitamin D. Or just put on 3 of your favorite songs and dance like a maniac until they are done.

2)vitamins: your body might need soemthing special that is prompting you to look for it by eating! Go with flinstone chewy ones...they are most fun

3)hydration...drink something....

4)graze! like cows: on grass..good stuff...

5)learn how to cook and find some "healthy" recipies you like. bring that stuff to work.
