[Cybil's face appears on screen looking...well, calm and collected because she's a cop, gdit, shit isn't supposed to weird her out. Okay so she does look a bit skeptical to say the least.]

This is certainly no nightmare, that's for sure. But Pokémon? Waking up in another house when I wasn't even sleeping? I don't think I was asleep, at least. ( Read more... )

[But why are the arrivals not always on sundays anymore? Hm. Regardless, here's Coop, ready to inform you with a pleasant-tour-guide air about him.]

I'm afraid this isn't a dream - or if it is, it's doing a very convincing job of imitating reality. No one knows why or by whom we're brought here, much less how. The dog will be your partner while you're here.

Damn it's good to hear another voice at the end of a communication device. Even better when you get to see who you're talking to.

[a casual smirk works its way across her face, but vanishes when he mentions that the dog will be her partner.]

I'm not exactly the partner kind of cop, and even if I were, I'd rather it be a familiar than some kind of strange animal.

Is there anything else you can tell me about this place?

Radios haven't been working for you lately?

[He's curious.]

I didn't appreciate my partner creature much at first, either. You'll be happy for its company later on. There are others like it in the wild, and they will attack you. Your dog will defend you from them.

[He pauses for a second here, gathering what might be important to know.]

It's three days travel to the next town, where you'll be able to find an inn or a pokémon center to stay. No one knows how to get back to their respective homes - most of us are from different worlds or points in time.

Back where I just came from they haven't. Just static, if anything.

[Again, she warily eyes the dog, but yeah hiding that wariness with a sort of authoritative stare. A soft whine can be heard from a near distance.]

And what makes you say this...thing won't turn and attack me itself?

[And now it's Cybil's turn to pause again, and she's obviously taking all of this information relatively calmly like most Silent Hill characters when put in weird situations la di da]

So I either have to stay here, or camp out in the wilderness. [That was more to herself, she goes back to addressing the stranger.] What's your name?

[hell dogs? rough experiences with monsters? Silent Hill? this sounds a little bit like the story of one other person he knows]

Wherever you were before you came here, you're not there anymore. Welcome to Johto. [his tone is more curious than anything]

I'd be relieved to hear that if I now weren't in a place I've never heard of before. But thanks for the welcome.

Don't mention it. [a pause] The monsters here aren't nearly as violent as the ones you probably dealt with, either.

I saw this thing cough up a fireball a few minutes ago. I'm not going to put my guard down just because there hasn't been an immediate violent attack.

[Another week, another flood of newcomers, freshly dumped into this world my whatever cosmic force was behind it. Heather had almost given up on wondering what it was. Maybe the Universe was on a coffee break and had leaned on a big red switch accidentally while having a casual conversation with Infinity. Who the hell knew.]

[In any case, she's flipping through her messages with half-shut eyes. It's late and she's about ready to pass out. Work was a killer, y'know?]

[And those messages, man did they pile up during the workday. Video of confused new person... video of confused new person.... accidental audio of someone who probably sat on their 'Gear and turned it on by accident... another video of a confused new person, oh hey, look, it was a cop, how wonderful, JUST what Johto neede--.....]

[... Not just a cop.]

[Suddenly, sleep is the last thing on Heather's mind, because if there's any two-word combination in the whole world that's the antithesis of a restful, untroubled sleep, it's Silent Hill.]

[But what was really a punch in the gut-- even more than the name of that town-- was the name she spoke.]

[... I know who this is.]

[But the question now was... what to do?]

[It's actually a couple minutes before Heather can bring herself to hit the video feed button on her own PokeGear, and those minutes are more or less just spent sitting there and staring at the screen, mulling over a million and one thoughts on how to approach this brand new can of worms to be opened. That was one thing that was beyond doubt-- she couldn't leave it shut.]

[She'd already tried that not too long ago, and oh boy was that a mistake she never wanted to make again.]

[Time to bite the bullet. Video feed? ON.]

Not a fan of dogs, myself.

Guess this place hasn't lost its sense of humor. It gave me one when I got here, too.

[whoa someone who isn't overtly REALLY BIZARRE? Neku could use some saner people to talk to--]

You're totally right; the locals are useless. Don't bother.

So the locals are just going to continue acting as though wandering around with strange creatures is of the norm? No matter how hard I press them for details?

Funny how I seem to be doomed to always be left in the dark, no matter how hard I try.

Yep. They pretty much only talk about Pokemon.

[pause. awkward...half-shrug thing.] We're pretty much all in the dark, here. I guess.

There seems to be an awful fixation on these creatures.

[SHE'S USED TO AWKWARDNESS. SILENT HILL IS A GAME BUILT UP OF AWKWARD SITUATIONS WHEN YOU IGNORE THE HORROR PART.]

Not exactly a comforting thought.

I'm afraid you won't get anything useful out of the locals, aru. I've tried before and they only repeat themselves.

[He eyes the Houndour as he takes a puff from his pipe.] That dog is pretty fierce-looking, but it shouldn't harm you since your its trainer, aru. I've got a dragon and she's never attacked me before. [He twirls the pipe around in his hand.]

That doesn't matter here, aru. I don't know how, but this place pairs us up with these monsters according to our personalities. I'm guessing it's so that we can create a special bond, or something, aru.

By the way, did you mention Silent Hill earlier? [He thought that was just a video game.]

...a special bond.

[yup, the curse of being a Silent Hill character means that sometimes you have the hideous habit of repeating what was just said, but with a thoughtful tone.]

Yes I did. I'm not from Silent Hill, but I was there before I...somehow arrived here.
