Jason and Nico had had every intention of going on an actual date tonight. At least, that had been the plan until their evening out had been cut short by an angry waiter who didn't understand that people had offerings of food to make, and that the fire hadn't been that big, and the napkins they'd used to snuff the flames were already were already

Jason's room was much safer than restaurants with people who yelled and booted customers for using the candles provided. Why have candles on a table if not for burning offerings?

"In my defense, I've never had cheese fries burn that hot before," Nico said, turning a little red because he really hadn't meant to ruin anything.

"Maybe their candles were bad?" Jason said. "Or the cheese fries?" Although they had looked really good, but he didn't think that would be good to point out right now.

No way the fries were bad. Nico was not going to focus on the loss or he might end up going begging to Luke. "Had to be the candles. More places should have braziers available."

He settled his back against the wall and eyed the pizza, thinking he could skip the offering after the little nightmare they'd just gotten past.

"Do you still need to do your food burning thing? I...don't think I have a brazier lying around." And here he thought he was prepared for just about everything.
