Summary: It's been 7 years since it happened. It's always been the same routine since she was born. It's the same today until someone unexpected showed up at the door.

It's October 11th again. Autumn is in full swing with its leaves that change colours and its crisp, cool breeze that blows through when you least expect it. Bikinis and swimming trunks are tucked safely into boxes and stored in the back of closets for next year. One more year has come and gone.

It's that time of the year. It's the anniversary of triumph and defeat, of things gained and things lost, of celebration and funerals. No one needs to mark this day on a calendar. I always know when it's upon us.

It's the day Grand Mum cooks the biggest dinner. It's the day Uncle George closes his joke shop early. It's the day I see Uncle Percy at the Burrow. It's the day Uncle Bill and Aunt Fleur visit from France and Uncle Charlie from Romania. It's the day Aunt Ginny sleeps in the guestroom of the house. It's the day Mum and I put flowers on the graves of Uncle Harry, Dad, Uncle Fred, and Grand Dad.

Mum always has a sad smile on her face when she cooks us breakfast. She cries in her bathroom when she thinks I'm doing something like reading her books or coloring. Afterwards, she dries her eyes and cooks lunch like nothing has happened.

Today, it's the same thing. I'm lying on the floor in my room when I hear a sob coming from Mum's bathroom. I know she's crying again. There's a knock at the front door. She doesn't stop sobbing so I guess she didn't hear it. I get up to go answer it for her. When I open the door, there's a tall man with long red hair and freckles standing there with clothes that are too big for him. He looks like Uncle Bill if he lost weight and didn't have a fang dangling from his ear.

He stares at me for a few moments with a stunned expression.

"Who are you?" I ask, frightened by his horrible attire. He just stares at me with blue eyes the same shade as Mum's bedroom walls. I remember now why Mum always told me not to answer the door if I didn't know who was on the other side. I never really listened to her much. She said I'm just like my Dad.

"Who's at the door, sweetie?" Mum's stern voice rings in my ears. I know I'm in trouble now.

The man looks up. I turn to see their eyes meet. Mum's eyes are filling fast with tears again and his do the same.

"Ron?"

"Hermione."

I don't understand why neither is moving, and I can't ask because my voice feels like it's caught in my throat. I want to apologize, but they come together in the tightest hug I've ever seen and I can't do it. I watch them cry for a long time without speaking a word. After what seems like days, they pull apart and Mum gently strokes his cheek that's covered with a thick red beard. He uses his thumb to wipe a few tears that still fall from her eyes.

"I can't believe it's you," I hear Mum say. "You disappeared 6 years ago. We couldn't find you. I couldn't find you. Then Natalie was born..." She trails off. My ears perk up at the mention of my name.

"Natalie?"

"Your daughter."
