I haven't been on LiveJournal in awhile, and probably won't be back in a longer while. I've got accounts on a myriad of social networking sites and I hate them all. I only return to let you know where my online presence is most likely current, if at all, and where you can find the most complete collection of pictures I have taken or am taking. Stay safe.

Hey, now that you're certified as an EMT and all, you should really start wearing a bike helmet.

I heard a story from a friend today about a friend of his, who abruptly woke up in a bed at his mom's house without knowing how he got there. Turned out he got hit from behind by a car while he was biking without a helmet. His head took a good smack; his memory's all wonky and he doesn't know if it'll ever be back to normal again or whether he sustained any brain damage. He now wishes he had worn a helmet.

I just kept thinking, that could be my brother.

Sorry to be all preachy but I do love you and you spend more time on your bike than anyone else I know.

Hmm, I guess now would be a bad time to tell you how many EMTs die by traffic on-scene, or in ambulance rollovers.

Thanks for the advice, feel free to say 'I told you so' if I ignore it and something happens to me.

In return I offer some automobile safety tips that people often ignore or are unaware of:

Wear your lap belt on your lap, and be mindful that it doesn't slide up onto your abdomen.

Move your seat backward as far as is comfortable.

Beware of riding in the back seat of pickup truck cabs with no headrest, unless you dislike having ears.

Hmm... the lap belt thing I did know about, because it's a common thing to tell a pregnant woman.

About the other ones.... I won't ask. But thanks.
