You know what's beautiful? Having a finale of Doctor Who that didn't make me cringe in "Oh God why am I watching this" embarrassment.

In fact...wait. Yes. I don't think I cringed ONCE this entire season.

It was beautiful.

Crap, I'm gonna have to spoiler-cut this )

my life is average, fandom: dw, navel-gazing

but...The Doctor's about to be erased from existence, and instead of scenery-chewing and swelling strings, we see him hunched over, whispering to a sleeping child.
This. I love Ten, I really, really do, but... that scene was the most beautiful thing ever. I never knew I needed Eleven before he got here, but now I'm going to echo River and say that the Doctor is 'hard work when he is young', and stick with the older one. ♥

It was a happy ending. I'm still reeling...

Man, I love Eleven so much. Of course, by the last moments of "The End of Time", I was heckling the TV, telling Tennant to stop whining and regenerate already!

That bedtime scene is so lovely - you can tell the Doctor's trying hard not to break down and...well, so was I. :)

omg Gallifrey! I really really hope so, the LOTTL thing is getting old. Plenty of new sources of angst, dudes!

I thought the finale was cheesy in a lot of ways (old/new/borrowed/blue) but still great fun, and better than any finale since "Bad Wolf." (I remember liking "Doomsday" but my feelings might change a second time around. And SO excited that both Amy and Rory are going along with the Doctor!

I LOVED the characterization of this Doctor through this season. Oh raggedy Doctor, the quirky imaginary friend who popped in and out of Amy's life and ends it by just sitting in her room, telling a story to a little sleeping girl like the "imaginary" friend he is.

I also really loved how much time travel was played around with. In reading some communities, posters, and their comments I've gathered that it left a portion of the viewership confused and earned the consensus "bogged down in too much plot, not enough character, and all sorts of confusing", but it wasn't! You had to stop and think about some things a little bit, but I LOVE how complicated time travel can be, and I love that Moffat uses that to its fullest.

And Amy and Rory... the girl who waited, and the boy who waited. <3
