It deserves its reputation, and then some. If crack were coded into websites, TV Tropes would be the equivalent of several cartels.

Remember how you felt the first time you found Wikipedia, and just looked up random stuff for the heck of it?

I didn't know it was *possible* to have a more distilled form of that until I found TVTropes. I had to install a Firefox extension called Leechblock so I would stop reading until 1AM.

I've been thinking about picking up the Thursday Next books. They sound really interesting and fun.

They are good fun. There's a lot to take in at first - it's a whole alterate-universe thing and Fforde crams it full of crazy - but Thursday is likable and it's all well-written.
