L8R, Facebook!

Just These Dudes reminded me of how much more invested I felt in Livejournal than I ever have in Facebook.  When someone added me as a Livejournal friend in 2004, that really seemed to mean something solid.  Perhaps this is all sentimental malarky.  I appreciate that my web browser accepted this spelling of "malarky ( Read more... )

I also really appreciate the fact that Livejournal doesn't deem it necessary to alert you every time anyone replies to an article that you merely commented on that someone else wrote.

I agree with you, we used to write in livejournal to express ourselves to people we knew wanted to hear about it. Now it's like, "I'M EATING TOAST!" is a viable statement, and that's all we get. I don't know about you, but lately I've been feeling less and less creative, and it's because I'm writing less, so maybe having a place to spew all my thoughts down will help me get back to that creativity I lost a long time ago.

Thanks, Jace!

I look forward to the Livejournal Revolution we're about to begin...

Yeah, I have been having the same thoughts. I think web 1.0 was more DIY. Nowadays, most of my time online is spent reading blog feeds on Google Reader and sharing links instead of making my own things. If I look at my LJ archive page, I used to post about every day and now I go weeks without writing, but I am arguably online more now than I was then! I think I find clarity when I write b/c it's all too much to keep in my braincase.

I've been craving toast. I love LJ. Never stopped. Even though it's owned by some shady Russians It feels safe versus myspace/ facebook. Myspace is a ghost space and FB has always scared me and seemed trivial. I like it here.
