Australians find tongue in cheek humour to be the norm, making fun of other people, so klong as you're also making fun of yourself is okay. Tho I cant watch the add at work so can't comment directly. We tend to think of Australia as all cultures, so we get to make fun of all cultures, its just making fun of ourselves :P
Thank you for that insight. :) Admittedly, I'm not familiar with the culture, but it makes more sense that something like this was aired with that in mind. In the US, it would be seen as ridiculously racist. But when I say 'ridiculous', see...people here don't laugh *this* off, it isn't considered appropriate at all. It's a forbidden topic. Which is why I watched it and went, Oh GOD, what were they thinking??
You have no idea how many Americans I have offended by making a sarcastic joke and them not realizing that all Australian humour is about 'taking the piss' and 'not taking yourself seriously'
