I tried the iPhone client and really can not understand what the big deal with clients is anyhow.
I've always just used the web interface with LJ on my regular 'puters and every client solution has just made surfing and posting to LJ just that much more complex with very little reward (with the exception of being able to back up things sometimes.
The iPhone client was a total waste of time. Surfing to LJ on via Safari is much easier and better looking. I had hoped that maybe the client would give a neat way to read LJ in a font size and formatting that would be easy on the eyes without any tweaking of the browser window and without the wasted side columns and stuff like that.
Safari already does this pretty well when in landscape mode. Posting isn't very hard with Safari either. Maybe the'll improve it in the future to make it worth it but for me on the iPhone, Safari will be the conduit of choice when on LJ (and most everything else on the web. It's like magic.
I've always used the clients for making entry posts because it's just easier for me, and I don't like the posting style on Lj itself. The clients allow me to use all the simple html codes that do not always work if you just type for posting on this site; it always comes out wrong because the posting features of the site seems, perhaps, more proprietary. I can just simply paste an embedded media code into the entry on the client without having to have a small separate window specifically for embedded media.
I only use the clients for posting and never for surfing.
