So, I did a random sampling (100) of summaries on ff.net in Naruto, looking for Mary Sue OC fics and high school fics, just out of curiosity and, ok, a massive amount of boredom. I found...

From my sampling, 7% of Naruto fanfics are High School fics.
10% are Mary Sue Original Character fics.

Wow, I expected a lot more Sues on both ends...

Simple answer for that. You see, Sues are usually female. Female main characters means none of TEH HAWTT MAN-SECKS. And as anal intercourse is what makes the world go round, there will be plenty of it in fanfic land. Sues and BUTT-SECKS just don't go so well together (because liek omg all teh hawtt guys shuld luv meee! ~Mary Sue).

How much unreasonable yaoi was there? Like, you know, SNAPE DOES HARRI ALL DAI LONG IGNORING THE FACT THAT SNAPE IS OLD AND MIGHT NOT EVEN HAVE A PENIS AND HARRY IS YOUNG AND DOING GINNY AT THE MOMENT BECAUSE THAT'S OBVIOUSLY JUST HIM IMAGINING RON WITH LONG HAIR AND SNAPE IS GOOD AND HARRY COMFORTS HIM AS HE WEEPS OVER A BASKET OF KITTENS?!?!

You know, I think that I once came across a HP/Naruto crossover (I swear, I only looked for laughs) and it had some implications of those two.

Ooh, a random sampling. I love statistics! Hrm, hrm. So, what's the confidence level on this? Let's see, there are...14125 Naruto fics on ff.net at the moment. That means...(whips out graphing calculator)... for a 5% margin of error... you would need at least 267 sampled for a meager 90% confidence. For ninety nine...634.
So with a hundred as a sample...let's say a standard 95% confidence... you'd have an 9.8% level of error.
I blame Shonen Jump and "valentine technique" for being able to compare that well with HP.

Hrm, also note it's been a while since I've done that so there's a small chance I made a mistake somewhere. Fortunately, I'm too clever for it to be likely.
