a classic case of asking before researching

This weekend's project is to make hot sauce or a spicy barbeque sauce starting from fresh hot peppers, which I plan to purchase at a farmers market.  I've never made hot sauce before.  I haven't even looked in any cookbooks on the topic.

Do you have a favorite technique or recipe to share? Please?
I promise to report back, if you do.

Asking before researching is totally the way to go.

What kind of peppers do you have? And what are you going to be saucing with this sauce?

It all depends.
I don't know what peppers I will find.
The hot sauce will be applied to whatever I deem appropriate once I've tasted it.

Maybe all one has to do is chop up the peppers very fine, slosh them into a little vinegar, and add an herb or two for looks or taste?

Well, my understanding is that most of them follow your plan, but with the addition, usually, of some sugar, salt, maybe some worcestershire sauce as well. I'm looking forward to hearing how it comes out, and what peppers you get!
