Posting for my own reference as much as anything, because I keep ending up hundreds of miles from home without access to this very necessary, not-in-the-least-bit-healthy recipe:
Cheese Cookies/Cheddar Cheese Ripples
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 8oz. package of cream cheese, softened
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
1 10oz. stick shredded cheddar
2 c. flour
[1 c. ground nuts <--- I've never made these with nuts, but I keep meaning to try it. Just preserving this as it is part of the original recipe.]
Cream the butter and cream cheese. Add egg, salt, and red pepper flakes. Stir in cheddar cheese. Work in flour (if you're doing a double recipe, this is the bit where the dough starts trying to escape from the standard-size Kitchen Aid bowl.)
Form the dough into a ball and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Roll out dough on a floured surface, cut with the most amusingly shaped cookie cutters you have on hand (if you have no cookie cutters on hand due to lack of foresight, the rim of a glass will work in a pinch.)
Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
Enjoy!
misshepeshu invented a variation of this recipe that involved pan-frying the dough in bacon grease. Think about that for a second while you listen to your arteries scream in horror. (PS it was delicious esp. w/ garlic)

That is all.
