Okay, so I’ve been thinking about cliques and what they mean and that sort
of thing recently, so here some rambling...
If I wrote an lj post saying: "Argh, KA is down and I posted something
in Florish and Blotts I really want to see the replies to!” Many of my flist wouldn't get it.
Same for: "Squee! Ernie 4 Boomer 4eva! Theirloveissowaddly!”
Or: “Woot! T00bs. Baby Voldemort’s got a beef with Fudge, innit bluv!”
And, other then my self, there is no one person who could make complete sense of all three statements and probably people who would understand none of them, so am I being cliquey if I decide to post one of them? I don’t I am particularly, it’s just that there are different groups of people on my flist who do not necessarily overlap that much.
People naturally form groups, it's the way it works. You meet people(online, or off), if you get along you're likely to see each other and talk more etc. etc. and
then you might be called a clique. Because people automatically go towards
the people they know, and people who aren't part of the group and/or don't
know them may feel excluded.
I have tendency to just push myself into groups. I feel horribly rude afterwards, especially as I don’t always notice what I’m doing at the time, but it’s just my way of dealing with what could be called cliques. I am shy, so if I didn’t I would probably end up sitting on the outskirts never really making friends, and I’ve done enough of that.
And if people are sitting around, and saying a lot of in jokes you don’t get and that intimidates you, just stick around there will be new in jokes and you will understand them. I don’t think most nice people intend to exclude and be cliques, it’s just the way people on the outside will see them.
