Haruko tells her parents she won't be there for dinner and as soon as she is out Mom spills the beans about her having a boyfriend. More important, it is Masaki-kun from water company. Dad is thrilled knowing that they had to do with two of them getting close

I thought Dad's getting so upset was a little out of character (especially since his daughter was fooled by a married man) but it all worked out okay.

I was thinking the same! Trough entire series Dad is saying how he wishes for Haruko to marry but now it is no good. Maybe we should think he was only reluctant to let his precious daughter go cause alternative is personality transplant. :)
