I've been toying with the thought of perhaps going to a munch on Wednesday, just to meet people and know I'm not alone in this lifestyle I'm finding myself more and more involved in. I think you have to remember, there is a stereotype, and that's what people have associated submission with. Being a sub is not what they have a problem with, per se, not insofar as it's similar on the surface to Gloria Steinem's "bourgeois oppression of women." It merely differs underlyingly. This makes for great irony; the people most likely to empathize are social conservatives, whose notion of the world was formed by mad prophets who clearly wanted complaisant women. But what the average person has a problem with is the stereotype -- think of "Malcolm in the Middle" and the endless German bondage porn jokes.

Just as, when I debate Lawrence v. Texas and a right to personal sexual privacy I always turn to the normalcy argument, you too could bring the world around in the terms you've laid down here. What you're doing is prototypically INFP: doing those things that make someone else happy ( ... )
