It was just a frog! Then why am I so sad that my Jakie's frog died? Of course it's not the frog I'm sad about. It's watching my son's heart break and hearing him sob despondently over his beloved Croaker. This frog was not a store bought frog. Oh no--it was a caught frog. Awwwww...so sorry for Croaker, and for Jake. I remember how traumatic it was when the cats had to be put to sleep. The girls still talk about Kato. But I think talking about it helped them cope then, and still helps them understand the finality of it all.

Please give him my condolences. :(

I'm sorry to hear about Croaker. It sounds like Jake really learned a lot from him--how to care for and love another living creature. And to express his love in written form. I am sure he'll always have a special place in his heart for his pet.
